Mt Martha modern house designed by Australia’s Graham Jones Design. This modern house built of radial timber, selected for its notable environmental and technical benefits. The secret is in the way the wood is cut. Waste not, want not, and radial sawing allows the highest return of timber per log. The timber is also cut from native trees, which reduces greenhouses gases related to transport of goods. In addition to being eco-friendly, radial timber is also durable. The natural finish of this innovative and eco-friendly house encourages the live-off-the-earth sentiment. But that’s not to say any luxury is spared. The magnificent wood and stone that form the facade make their way indoors, where tall ceilings are accentuated by the vertical, floor-to-ceiling wooden installations. Expansive windows naturally brighten interiors, while letting in the scenic views of the garden and patio just outside. Radial Timber.More about Mt Martha modern house [via] modern house design.
Dubai now became the center of architectural design with amazing art architectural building, like the Burj-Dubai, Ski Dubai, The Palm Islands and Burj Al Arab. This “miniature” of Earth was created by James Law Cybertecture in order to make a statement. The Technosphere is meant to reflect the state of our planet in current and future times. Proposed as an iconic building for the Technopark of Dubai, the eco-sphere would be a carbon neutral tourist attraction as well as a place in which to live and work. The Technosphere is a mixed-use building providing office and residential space as well as a hotel and public courtyards. This living, breathing building operates in a similar fashion to the Earth itself, providing energy, recycling water, and providing sustenance to its occupants. The exterior forms a shell around the interior spaces and will house solar panels for electricity generation. Inside, sky gardens act to shield the interior spaces from the sun and filter the air to contribute fresh oxygen to the indoor environment. Water will be recycled and efficiently used.

“For our T-trees social housing project we used the concept of a “tree”. It is not a totally new idea, others worked with the concept in the 70s and 80s. The whole visual image of a building is constructed with two interwoven design principles. The first is supporting a core — the central block that contains the elevator and the stairs. The second is the communication module. As the trunk of the tree, which is where the blocks are mounted a branch with leaves, in this project — it is communication modules. With a future of increasing energy, living costs, climate change, high population density, urbanization it is no surprise that we are now seeking new solutions. Everyone wants to live in a green, sustainable environment in suitable house, with low construction costs. The basis of the apartment is a cubic shaped living module with 3m sides. At the request of the opportunities and possible variations of easy assembling, replacing, or adding extra module depenidng of a family needs, made in recycled materials (wood, plastic, glass, aluminium), each prefabricated module consist in build-in facilities, furniture, toilets, shower, kitchen etc. depending on function of each cell, also wind mills are additional modules on the top, produce energy which cover 25% of required energy. The module remains unchanged, which makes assembling easier. For people with disabilities, entrance in each floor will be aligned with elevator entrance.”
